What Health Coaching Actually Is (And What It's Not)

Clearing up the confusion

When people hear “health coaching,” they often picture a personal trainer yelling at them to do burpees, or a nutritionist handing over a rigid meal plan. It’s neither of those things.

What health coaching is

Health coaching is a collaborative process where a trained coach helps you identify your goals, overcome barriers, and build sustainable habits around nutrition, movement, and lifestyle. It’s personalized, ongoing, and focused on the long game.

What it’s not

  • Not personal training. We may program your workouts, but coaching covers far more than what happens in the gym.
  • Not therapy. We focus on behavior change and goal achievement, not clinical mental health treatment.
  • Not a meal plan. Instead of rigid rules, you learn frameworks and skills that work for your life.
  • Not a quick fix. Real change takes time. Coaching gives you the support and accountability to stick with it.

Who benefits most from coaching

Coaching works best for people who know what they should do but struggle to do it consistently. If you’ve tried programs before and they worked until you stopped — coaching addresses the “stopping” part.

What to expect

Most clients start with a discovery call to discuss goals and fit. From there, you’ll receive a personalized plan covering nutrition, training, and habit strategies, with regular check-ins to adjust and progress.
