Improving your nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated, but there are a few common traps that catch almost everyone. Here’s what to watch out for.

1. Cutting calories too aggressively

When you slash your intake too low, your body adapts by slowing metabolism and increasing hunger signals. A moderate deficit is more sustainable and more effective long-term.

2. Ignoring protein

Protein is the most important macronutrient for body composition. Most people drastically undereat it. Aim for 0.7-1g per pound of bodyweight.

3. All-or-nothing thinking

One “bad” meal doesn’t ruin your week. The ability to get right back on track is what separates those who succeed from those who don’t.

4. Relying on willpower instead of systems

Willpower is a finite resource. Build an environment and routine that makes good choices the default, not the exception.

5. Skipping the basics for supplements

No supplement will outwork poor sleep, inconsistent eating, and a sedentary lifestyle. Master the fundamentals first.
